Parents Day 17th October

Dear parents and guardians,

I welcome you and your children back at Goffs Greek Complementary School for the new school year 2015 – 2016, as well as to inform you about a general meeting I would like to have with all the parents of the school.

I hope that this year will be creative and productive, providing opportunities for enjoyable engagement into learning the Greek language and culture and further developing children’s literacy and social skills. Our aim is to create a pleasant environment for our students by providing motivation and increasing their interest for learning. We also invest into developing the values of collaboration and mutual respect so that we inspire our students to bond as a community and at the same time to actively participate in the multicultural modern society.

To achieve our goals we kindly ask for your help and support. I consider communication between parents, teachers and students as the key to maximise students’ potential and for constant support towards their goals. We rely on your willingness to work with us for the benefit of our children.

Therefore, I take this opportunity to invite you to an Open Day on Saturday 17th October. From this year I would like also to introduce at the school, a general meeting, bringing the Head teacher and parents together at the beginning of the year, to discuss about the way the school works and regulates, to answer to any questions you may have and listen to your suggestions.

Therefore, there will be a general assembly on Open Day, 17th October at the Hall of the school from 11:30 – 12:20 am (break time will be from 11:00 – 11:20 on the day). After our assembly you can see your children’s teachers in their classes from 12:30 – 13:00 am to meet each other and for the teachers to explain how they work, the goals they have set for this year and how you can further support your children. Please note that the meetings will be for all of the parents of the class, not for the progress of each student individually. Another meeting with teachers to discuss on students’ progress individually will be scheduled at the end of the first term.

I look forward to seeing you all,

Kind regards,

Maria Charalambous

Head Teacher of Goffs Greek Complementary School

Greek Adult Classes

Adult Classes at Goffs Greek School

Want to learn Greek?

Goffs Greek School is looking at introducing adult lesson this coming term (September 2015).  This is designed as an intermediary course, some basic Greek is assumed whether it be spoken, written or just understanding of the Greek language. The lessons will be no more than two hours and will probably commence from 10 am.  All are welcome but we need to know approximate numbers before school year starts (preferably before term ends on the 11th July). Please share with others that you think that may be interested and use the contact form below to notify us, unless you already attend the Greek school please notify a member of the committee and we will put your name down.  This is a great opportunity for anyone wanting to learn or expand their knowledge.

If we have enough numbers to carry out this class we can then determine the cost, so the more the merrier and the cheaper it will become.  This will be an upfront payment course.
